Empowering Student Growth

Financial Support to Unlock Learning Opportunities

Higher education today emphasizes experiential learning experiences - field trips, internships, study tours, overseas service-learning, and exchange programmes - that inspire curisority, foster cultural understanding, and nurture a global mindset.

HKU's First-in-the-Family Education Fund (FIFE Fund) supports students in engaging actively with learning opportunities outside the classroom.

Breaking Barriers, Advocating Equity

HKU champions equal access to education. Distinguished by its unique commitment to social mobility and serial reciprocity, the FIFE Fund goes beyond financial aid to break the cycle of inter-generational poverty.

This pioneering scheme won the
Overall Grand Gold Medal and a Gold Medal in the Fundraising Programmes Category of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) Awards 2009.

Fund recipients are encouraged to serve HKU and the wider community, create opportunities for others, and share their learning experience with peers - thus raising social conscience during their early days at HKU.

Upon graduation, they are expected to continue contributing to the advancement of society through meaningful engagement and leadership.
